Northstar-at-Tahoe

Northstar is a year round vacation resort offering a plethora of outdoor activities and entertainment through both the summer and winter seasons, but they are most popular for their ski slopes and family atmosphere. Situated near the North Shore of Lake Tahoe in California, the resort encompasses an enormous 3,000 acre area with 2,280 vertical feet of downhill terrain. The ski at Northstar is accessed by 19 lifts, including 8 express lifts, and features an efficient snowmaking system, a cross country center, on-site lodging, as well as a new "Village" where you can enjoy shopping and entertainment after a day on the slopes. The Village also offers art galleries, jewelry boutiques, and a skating rink, for those in your group who choose to stay off the slopes.

Northstar is known for its beautiful tree skiing and fall lines. The abundance of trees around the slopes also makes for better shelter during storm conditions with deep powder. However, they lack the steeper slopes which some of the other area ski resorts are known for. This isn't entirely a bad thing, especially for beginners, families, and casual skiers who are more interested in scenery and experience than thrills. This is not to say that there are no steep slopes to be found here. Expansions have been made in recent years adding more expert runs.

Among the new additions to the resort is ski in ski out access to and from the Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe from the mid-mountain area of Northstar-at-Tahoe, meaning you only have to worry about parking your car hire when you head out for shopping or entertainment.
