Bring a Stroller for Family Vacations by Car Hire

Stroller, kinderwagen, pousette, buggy, cochecito, whatever you call it, when you're traveling with babies and small children they sure do come in handy.  If you'll be renting a car in your destination you can add baby or child seats from your car rental provider (see our blog about adding a child seat to your car rental), but don't count on finding a buggy for baby while your out sight-seeing.  If you have a trusty stroller you may want to bring it along with you this vacation.  If you don't here are a few tips about the most popular strollers for traveling.

While you can bring along any clunker, 2-seater, or otherwise massive stroller you like when you reserve a big enough car rental for your vacation, if you plan on flying or taking public transportation in your destination you might want to consider something a bit smaller.  Most airlines do allow you to check a large item for free, such as a car seat or a stroller, with the purchase of a child on your lap.  To keep things simple you might want to bring along an umbrella stroller.

Umbrella Strollers

These are often the cheapest, lightest, and most portable of all baby buggies.  Like the name implies they fold up and can be carried under your arm, or splay out to give your little one a ride.  The major downside for these is durability; like the average umbrella these are often not made to last and the hope is always that something which folds up so easily will not fold up on your little one.  In addition, most of them are fairly simple contraptions and what you get in convenience and portability costs you comforts like a sunshade, cup holders, and an undercarriage basket.  However, even if your renting the tiniest economy car you should have space for an umbrella stroller.

Jogging Strollers
