Spring in Venice

Festa di San Marco

On April 25 you can celebrate the feast day of the patron saint of Venice. Take your car hire over to St. Mark's Square to enjoy the celebration. If you happen to be visiting with your loved one, tradition has it that if you're in Venice on this day you should give your partner a long-stemmed red rose - which you'll find plenty of from sellers around the streets or in restaurants.

Easter Week

It’s lovely to hear the church bells ringing Easter Sunday morning. There are hundreds of church services throughout Easter week, which can make your experience a bit more authentic. One impressive church service is held at Benedizione del Fuoco on Holy Thursday at around 6PM. The service is in total darkness and the 'sacred flame' is lit in the entrance as a procession enters, lighting the basilica with candles as it goes.

Vogalonga

On the first Sunday after the Ascension (in the last two weeks of May) at St. Mark's basin come out to witness around fifteen hundred boats of all shapes and sizes descend upon the lagoon and all the canals of the city. Rent a kayak and join in the water party, or just drive your Venice car rental to the best vantage point and enjoy watching all the colorful boats.
