The beaches of San Juan offer the most comfortable hammocks and sun umbrellas for rent, as well as some excellent typical Spanish restaurants, serving good strong coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Or perhaps your more in the mood for a Spanish beer or glass of wine with octopus and a cold vegetable salad after a long day of soaking in the sun.
Zip around the town and hit all the shops and street markets offering fresh products and all kinds of handmade goods and souvenirs.
San Juan is also know for its Summer Solstice bonfires on the beach. Days are spent with adults, children, and entire families preparing for these celebrations by making designs, paper mache, and other things to set on fire at night. Nights are known to get wild. The party has over 5000 years of history, going back to pagan sun worship. Here, the fires represent the days getting shorter, and the tradition of jumping over a fire representing the sun continues today.
