Warnemünde Beach in Rostock, Germany

Once a humble fishing village, Warnemünde has since completely shifted and now a huge portion of the economy here is based on tourism. Since the construction of a modern cruise line centre in Warnemünde in 2005, this sleepy fishing village has been on the map so to speak, and it is now the most important harbour for cruise line ships in Germany.

As a centre of maritime traffic Warnemüde offers several interesting monuments having to do with the sea. Visit the old lighthouse and "Teepott" located near the beach promenade. The lighthouse is currently still in use, and during the summer visitors can enjoy an impressive view over the Baltic Sea and the Northern districts of Rostock from its 40 meter high tower.

Sitting next to the light house is the Teepott, so named for its interestingly curved roof, is the resort's second most famous landmark and an interesting example of modern East German architecture.
