Sunday River in Bethel

The popular Sunday River ski resort is located in the town of Bethel in western Maine. The area stretches more than three miles wide from east to west, offering skiable terrain for all abilities, spaced across eight interconnected mountains. Each of Sunday River's eight mountains offers its own unique experience, from the steep slope and big bumps of White Cap, to the tree skiing of Oz, and the light cruising on Jordon Bowl. Few resorts in the Northern United States can measure up to Sunday River's quality and diversity. They also offer 12 hour skiing and riding. This means you don't have to rush out at the beak of dawn to get in a full day of skiing - unless you want to. The 12-hour skiing and riding is serviced by the Chondola and the South ridge Express from the South Ridge base area. Here the trails are groomed again in the late afternoon between 4pm and 5pm, allowing access to the majority of the terrain late into the evening.

All in all, Sunday River offers 131 trails and 18 lifts. This large resort is open year round, with plenty of summer alpine activities and always something happening. They boast a longer ski season than many other resorts in the area, using the most and the best snow machines to keep the slopes slick a total of 6 months, ranging from mid-October to April.
