Queens County, New York is the most ethnically diverse region in the United States, and fittingly, it is home to both of New York's international Airports. Over 140 languages are spoken in Queens, but you'll do just fine with english, even in the large and impressive Chinatown in Queens. You can pick up a car rental from New York JFK Airport or a car hire from Newark Airport to get around easily during your stay in Queens.
Head over to Flushing-Northeast for a baseball game at Citi Field in your New York car rental. Constructed just before the 2009 season, Citi Field features a unique architectural entrance through the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, an homage to the first black baseball player in modern Major League Baseball. The New York Mets are a stand-out favorite among baseball fans and the games are an excellent way to experience New York culture.
Not too far from Citi Field is one of the greatest parks in the United States. Flushing Meadows-Corona Park was the site of both the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs, and still retains some of the architectural and artistic relics from the events such as the Unisphere, a 300 ton spherical grid of steel and the world's largest globe.
The park is huge and contains much more than one could see in a single day. Main attractions in the park include the New York Hall of Science, Queens Botanical Garden, Queens Museum of Art, and the Queens Zoo.
Queens has several unique museums that you can tour by New York car hire if you have a day or two to spend in the area. Some of the most notable are the Isamu Noguchi Sculpture Museum; the Musuem of African Art; and the Musuem of the Moving Image, which includes the history of video games.
However, the coolest addition to the New York art scene is not in a museum, but a legal graffiti zone called 5 Pointz on Jackson Avenue. The entire area is covered with amazing graffiti art, bright, colorful, and quite outside the box.
