Turkish bathing in Istanbul
To move around a big city like Istanbul, I always carry my map. This was very helpful in my recent trip to Istanbul in a rental car.
Outside the touristic areas it’s hard to find someone who speaks English, so it's a good idea to be prepared so you don't have inconveniences.
One of the mandatory trips in Turkey is definitely the hamam or Turkish Bath. I visited the ones in Cagaloglu. They have separated areas for men and women and I found them to be very hygienic and nice. You can bring your bathing suite, some people don't.
This is a very peculiar ancient Turkish habit, but of course, they replaced it with a regular bathroom in their homes years ago.
