Spring in Zurich

Steamboat Ride

Test out your sea legs in the fresh spring air with a tour on one of Zurich's two old steam ships. There are a few different routes to choose from offering varying times. You can also rent a small row boat and spend the afternoon exploring on your own.

Stroll through Zurich's Chinese garden on a spring afternoon. This small but beautiful garden was a gift to Zurich by the Chinese city of Kunming as a symbol of gratitude for some technical knowledge they received from Zurich. The 600 year old spring festival in Zurich is based on the ancient tradition of "chasing away Old Man Winter". Visit Zurich near the end of April (the Sunday before the third Monday in April to be exact), and you'll be treated to the festivities which include a children's parade and a large snowman figure meant to symbolize winter. On the next day (Monday), the 25 guilds of Zurich hold a joint parade and then a giant bonfire by the lake, followed by the festival's highlight - a stunning fireworks display with singing and dancing in the streets.
