Communication is so vital in this age.  If you go beyond the service area of your cell phone while out on the road traveling this season, how will you stay in contact with your family, business, or fellow travel companions?  What will you do if you have an emergency while out in the car rental?  In this world of affordable mobile communications make sure you have a cheap mobile phone to go with your cheap car rental.

Book a Phone With Your Car Rental

In many locations around the world you can reserve a mobile phone for very low rates with your car rental vehicle.  This is easy to do through our booking engine, but it is important to note that not all cars listed in our search results have mobile phones available.  It all depends on the location, type of vehicle, and the car rental company providing the rental.  For example,  a navigational phone was available for my trip from Louisville Airport if I rented a Chevrolet Aveo from Dollar, but not if I chose the Aveo from Enterprise.  

Reserving a mobile phone through your car rental provider is very similar to reserving other equipment for your vacation, such as a child seat, snow chains, or a GPS system.  

Upon Arrival

I went with the cheapest car hire option, which unfortunately, did not come with the option to reserve a mobile phone as well.  I ended up spending more for a rather low quality prepaid phone and minutes through NET10, which I purchased at a local Target store.  You can find prepaid cell phones and rechargeable minutes in a variety of stores with many locations.  I paid $35 for a phone and 720 minutes that expire after a month, but there are other deals and minutes available for shorter travel periods.
